"I intend to draw from my experiences of life and art an idyllic network: a community of artists, creatives ressources and ideas that bring out symbolic issues concerning all lifeform on Earth towards the third millenium"
International artist and emerging performer, Alex Côté creates a contemporary imagery of body, landscape and plastic that unfolds with meditation, contemplation and collective awareness. His work seeks to awaken the primitive soul, the earthly roots and the spiritual connection that bind humans to nature, while soliciting the senses of the viewer and creating sacred aesthetics with the performers. Throughout workshops, residencies, festivals and exhibitions, Alex Côté's creative process has been evolving within the fields of theatre, performance, photography, video, mapping, installation, site-specific and land art. He has shown his work in Berlin, Venice, Rome, New York, Portugal, Poland, Spain, France, and recently in Montréal as a guest-artist VJ for the Nocturnes of the Museum of Contemporary Art. Invited by DeSerres and The Artist Project, he took part of the last Toronto Art Fair 2019 with his contemporary collection of photography. Finally, Alex Côté will participate and perform during the Festival International Art of Performance (FIAP) in Martinique in November.

I plunge my work in an interdisciplinary aesthetic quest where I seek, using the movement of gesture, natural resources or landscape, an idyllic desire for a peaceful world, granted, free of any conflicts in which human fully experience the nature of being. In my projects, performative gestures testify to the need to protect our environment against the consuming, polluting and destructive ego. Seeking to provoke a self-identification and a movement of collective awareness, my creations unfold with lightness, meditation and contemplation. Soliciting the senses of the audience and creating sacred aesthetics with the movement of the body, the landscape and the plastic, my performances seek to awaken the primitive, the earthly roots and the spiritual connection that binds the human to nature. In my photographic series and video installations, I aim to bring over a quest for the sublime and for the environment’s infinite complexity.
Over the years, my creative process has been evolving through theatre, performance, photography, video, mapping, installation, site-specific and land art. Collaborating with teams of performers, experiments are carried out with plastic materials where the movement of the body, water and natural light become real ephemeral sculptures. My video practice is deployed through projection and mapping into large video, scenographic or cinematographic installations, where the spectator's immersion and contemplation of the landscape allows a sensory experience with nature. With 4K H-D imagery, time-lapse, and slow motion, my approach of video art points towards immortalizing nature’s memory within an awakening of beauty. Finally, my work highlights our primate presence in the technological age and engages awareness regarding the global water crisis.
